In 1978, the Valley Care Association (VCA) was formed and funded by a community-led effort to provide care for older adults in the Sewickley area. We succeeded, opening a 120-bed nursing home in Aleppo Township, Pa., in 1984. We also ran Adult Day Care Services from 1993 to 2013, in Aleppo, Ambridge, and Moon Township.
In 1999, we sold the nursing home to the Masons, which added retirement housing and assisted living. Masonic Village fulfilled VCA’s vision for a continuum of care for older adults at various stages of life.
Our Values in Practice
Using the endowment from the Masons, VCA formed the Valley Care Endowment to continue its mission. Over many years, VCE gave over $9 million to support local programs for seniors.
In 2020, we commissioned a research study of community needs to guide our future path. As a result, VCA and VCE merged to become the Valley Care Foundation in 2025. In this way, we continue to serve older adults and their families.
